A 'rail binding' book that depicts haunting imagery encountered as a book conservator working on 19th century slave trade publications which directed ship captains how to ‘pack tight’ or ‘pack loose’ their human cargo. The binding is shaped to represent the hull of a ship. Content is derived from research of slave trade terminology, African alphabets and genetic codes. The color palette reflects skin tones of all races.
